Funding
Funding the facility
CUBIC is supported by generous contributions from our four partner institutions: Royal Holloway, Brunel, Roehampton, and Surrey. These contributions collectively cover the operating and maintenance costs of the facility. This funding model has been in place for over 20 years and has delivered long-term sustainability.
Our new 3T Siemens Cima.X MRI scanner was acquired through a Wolfson Foundation grant, supplemented by financial contributions from the partner institutions. This joint investment in CUBIC’s core neuroimaging infrastructure reflects a shared commitment to understanding the neural underpinning of human cognition in health and disease.

Research funding
Over the last 10 years, CUBIC researchers have been awarded over £10 million from major funders, including UKRI research councils (ERC, BBSRC, ESRC, MRC), the Leverhulme Trust, and the Academy of Medical Science. This grant funding supports a diverse array of projects, cutting across CUBIC’s four interrelated themes.
